Medicare Choices
FIRST:
ENROLL IN ORIGINAL MEDICARE. Original Medicare provided by the federal government.
Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance)
Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care.
Medicare Part B (Doctor Visit)
Part B covers certain doctors’ services, outpatient care, medical supplies, and preventive services.
SECOND:
Decide if you need additional coverage. You have two ways to get additional coverage.
Option 1 (You can add one or both of the following to Original Medicare):
MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT INSURANCE (Med Supp). Medicare Supplement insurance are offered by private insurance companies.
Med Supp covers some of the costs not paid by Original Medicare Parts A and B.
MEDICARE PART D (prescription drug coverage)
PART D is offered by private insurance companies.
OR
Option 2 ( Choose a Medicare Advantage plan)
MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN (Sometime called Part C) is offered by private insurance companies.
PART C combines Part A (hospital) and Part B (doctor) and it also provides additional benefits.
Most Medicare Advantage plan cover prescription drugs also.
